Terms of Use

Sawubona UK Ltd  ·  Last updated: April 2026

These terms govern your use of the Sawubona website at sawubona.uk and any services you register interest in through this site. By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. About Sawubona

Sawubona UK Ltd is a companionship service connecting Nigerian and Ghanaian elders in the UK with culturally matched companions. We are not a care agency, healthcare provider, or regulated service. We do not provide personal care, medical support, or clinical services of any kind. We are not registered with or regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

2. Waitlist registration

Submitting a waitlist enquiry through this website does not constitute a contract or guarantee of service. It registers your interest and allows us to contact you when we are ready to accept new families or companions in your area. We will be in touch within 5 working days of a valid submission.

3. Our service — scope and limitations

Sawubona provides in-home companionship visits. Companions are self-employed individuals, not employees of Sawubona UK Ltd. Companions:

  • Visit elders at their home for conversation, shared activities, and cultural connection
  • Do not provide personal care, assist with medication, or carry out clinical tasks
  • Do not provide transport unless specifically agreed in writing in advance
  • Are not responsible for the elder's health, safety, or welfare beyond their duty to report concerns to Sawubona

Sawubona UK Ltd is not liable for any harm, loss, or damage arising from a companion's actions or omissions beyond our reasonable duty of care in vetting, training, and supervising companions.

4. Companion status

Companions registered with Sawubona act as independent self-employed individuals. They are not employees or workers of Sawubona UK Ltd. Each companion is responsible for their own tax, National Insurance, and compliance with HMRC requirements. Sawubona provides a platform and coordination service only.

5. Pricing and founding member rates

Families who join during the founding member period receive rates locked in for as long as their subscription remains continuously active. Any future price increases apply only to new families. We will give at least 60 days written notice before any price change takes effect for new joiners. Rates are clearly displayed on this website and confirmed in writing before any subscription begins.

6. Cancellation

Subscriptions require 30 days written notice to cancel. Notice must be given by email to hello@sawubona.uk. Founding member rates are forfeited upon cancellation and cannot be reinstated if the family re-joins at a later date.

7. Intellectual property

You agree not to use this website to transmit harmful, offensive, or unlawful content, or to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of our systems. We reserve the right to remove access for any user who violates these terms.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sawubona UK Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of this website or our services. Our total liability in any matter shall not exceed the amount paid by you for services in the preceding 3 months.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
